EP 84: It’s Never Too Late, But Don’t Wait Until It Is. Start Where You Are!
This one’s a short but necessary kick up the backside.
We talk about that moment when you're wondering “Why isn’t this working?” and the uncomfortable truth that sometimes… it’s you. Are you really doing everything you can to make it happen? Or are you just avoiding the stuff that feels too big, too boring, or too scary?
I get into:
– Starting before you're ready
– What stops success from showing up
– The power (and pain) of asking for help
– And knowing when to pivot or pack it up
Plus, I share a personal story about my dad that changed how I see time, legacy, and getting shit done... even when you’re tired, even when the kids eat the last slice of pizza. 😤
Listen. Reflect. Then go do the thing.
Let the rest of your life be the best of your life.

Start where you are. Start messy, but just start. A lot of businesses start out of an idea that an individual possibly needed for themselves and with some people, it's the lack of consistency that stops them too soon and stops the success from showing up. So here's my question to you stops the success from showing up. So here's my question to you have you done everything that you could possibly do to run a successful business? Note to self yeah, but if you haven't done everything, if you ask yourself that question and you're thinking, nah, I haven't think of the things that you could have done. But the next question to ask yourself is why not of the things that you could have done? But the next question to ask yourself is why not? Because within, that answer will help you understand why you haven't had a successful business or what the next thing to do is to have a successful business. Because I truly believe that you'll find the answer.
Speaker 1:And then you're going to be on to something and your answer could be something along the lines of that you needed help to do something and you're not good at asking for help. So then that's something you've got to work on. Just start asking, just ask, just ask. And this is a question or that is a thing that you know bothers me when it comes to my business. I'm just so used to doing everything on my own that asking for help kind of cripples me. But go get out of your own way. But another response to that question could be the um, you actually just don't want to do the thing anymore, but you also don't want to quit again because you've quit before doing something else and you wanted to show everyone that you could do this one, this one is gonna, this one's gonna hit. I'm gonna keep doing it. But only you know the answer to that question. It's, and it's deep within you, but it really is. That's the difference between having a successful business and this is what I believe. Like I said, note to self, I truly believe that's the difference between having a successful business and just doing it and not Like, honestly, the best thing is doing what you love. So if you have to stop and pivot and find your joy somewhere else to live the life of happiness that you want listen by golly gosh you need to go and find it. You need to go find your joy and you need to go find your happiness, because that's just the difference between every day saying I've had a great day and I've loved. I've loved what I've done today and I've enjoyed it. To the fuck's sake I I've got to do this again. And before I finish off, because this is going to be a short one today time waits for no one, and the only certain thing that we know for sure is that one day we are going to breathe our last breath and listen I know that's morbid, but I say that to say this let the rest of your life honestly be the best of your life. And I'm going to leave you with one last thing.
Speaker 1:Nine years ago, at the age of 55, I watched my dad take his last breath and a few months later, I walked across the stage with my sisters to collect his degree. Because he had worked so hard during his time doing studying, he had earned enough points to complete, and because he was so cool and they loved him, they wanted to also just honor, honor him, honor his life and his achievements by giving him the award. Obviously he couldn't. And giving him the award. Obviously, you can't take your awards with you when you go, but one thing is that it's never too late to start, and the second thing is don't wait till it's too late and that is an oxymoron, I know, and I love that word, but that's what I wanted to leave you guys with. It's never too late to start, but don't wait till it's too late.
Speaker 1:Peace out A-town, down Westside, is the best side, do I believe that Whatever innit. But what I do know is that wherever I'm at the vibe's out and my vibe might sound a little bit low today my children were assholes. Today, innit, they didn't leave me a slice of pizza. And today in it, they didn't leave me a slice of pizza and, um, it pissed me off. I can't even hide it from you guys, can I? I could have just said nothing, but it's what it is. But I love you guys and I wasn't even gonna do an episode today, but I said you know what? Because you didn't get a freaking slice of pizza, the only person you're letting down is yourself. Do it when you're tired, do it when you're sad. Do it when you're frustrated. Do it when you you're sad. Do it when you're frustrated. Do it when you're happy Even more. And if you're doing it when there's not much time, do it short. It's cool. I love you guys. Bye.
