EP 78: When the Brain Ain’t Braining: Showing Up Anyway!
This week... lawd. I almost didn’t hit record. You ever have one of those days where nothing’s making sense, your energy’s off, and your brain is just NOT braining? That was me. But instead of skipping the week, I decided to show up exactly as I am — bloated, discombobulated, and all.
In this short and honest episode, I’m catching you up on my 20-day posting challenge (3 times a day, yes I’m mad), why I’m doing it, and how I’m shifting my mindset from perfection to purpose. I also chat about getting sick, falling off my wellness routine, and the importance of consistency — even when it feels chaotic.
If you’re a creative, a content creator, or just someone trying to stay on track when life’s doing the most, this one’s for you.
Come for the vulnerability, stay for the vibe — and if you want to join the accountability group, I’ve got you!

I'm going to be 100% honest with you guys because I've recorded. I started recording my podcast and it's like every conversation. I got to the end of it and I was like, why am I telling you that? And I was like so I was like, okay, let me end that part. And then I went on to another story and then I was talking about perception. And then I got to a point in the story and I was like, why am I telling you that? And I was just like, and I had to in the story and I was like, why am I telling you that? And I was just like, and I had to stop the podcast. And I was like, I don't, I feel really discombobulated today and I'm not going to put this out. I might continue that podcast or I probably will redo the whole thing again for next week. Like the whole conversation is just understand why I'm telling you that.
Speaker 1:But I just wanted to come on and say not all the time things work out the way they're supposed to be and I didn't want to have another week of where I didn't do an episode of my podcast because, because I was on holiday and everything, I had a few, quite a few weeks out. So I thought let me just come back. Let me do a quick intro. Let me keep it short and sweet. I've got a couple of things that I'd love to tell you guys, because you know I'm doing a chat. I'm challenging myself for the next 20 days to do a social media challenge and if anyone wants to jump on it with me, it would be great. We can hold each other accountable, but the conversations I was going to have, my brain is not braining today, so we're just not going to do it. So let me do my intro.
Speaker 1:Hi guys, welcome to another episode of the so Flippin' Extra podcast, a platform for me to express, explore and connect and be so flippin' extra. Why? I hear you ask. Well, babe, that's what brings me joy. So, without further ado, let's get into this episode. I don't know where it's going and it's probably going to be a quick one. So let's keep it going because clearly the brain is not braining.
Speaker 1:So, before I do get into the challenge, I have had a techie week and I feel like I'm still. My body's still not right. It's not right On Friday, was it? Oh my God? No, not Friday, it was thursday. I was thrown up and I don't know what happened and I wonder if I caught a bug because callie was throw. Callie came home on sunday and she just projectile vomited all over my goddamn carpet and then maybe it was just floating around. My immune system could have got a little bit weak and yeah, I was. I've been throwing up. I was throwing up on Thursday, like a good few times on Thursday and then just out for the count tired Friday.
Speaker 1:It was my friend's birthday. I went. I don't even know how I, how I managed to go, because I had no energy whatsoever and I wasn't myself. Everyone at the party was like it was like a just a get together, good Friday, get together for his birthday. But everyone's like your energy is so low.
Speaker 1:And I said I know I can't, like I can't even fake it, like I just don't, I haven't, I've hardly eaten, I've hardly eaten for, like my appetite is totally gone. Even today appetite is gone. So I mean, my stomach's been feeling a little bit bloated. So I'm not too unhappy about the, the lack of appetite. I'm hoping I can get my stomach down, but I just feel really tender. So yeah, I guess the point I'm making.
Speaker 1:I'm making a lot, I'm saying a lot of stuff and there's no points to it. But I guess the point I'm making I'm making a lot, I'm saying a lot of stuff and there's no points to it. But I guess the point that I'm making is um, sorry, pardon me, I hope you lot didn't hear that. I guess the point that I'm making is keep on top of your immune system, because I usually am very much on my immune system game. Yeah, I take oregano oil regularly and recently I've not been taking it. So I really feel that why have I not been taking it? I think I've just been off my game again since I came back, so I think it's, yeah, caused my immune system to take a little, to be open to you know, some little sneakies that got in. So, yeah, be on your, be on your a game. If you usually take some certain things, um, keep on top of it, keep on top of feeling good, keep.
Speaker 1:I haven't really been going to the gym properly. I've like slipped, but again my back hurt, was hurting last week at one point, like the beginning of the week, and then obviously I went in and then I had appointments in the morning, um, and meeting, so I couldn't go, and then I got sick so I couldn't go, and then I got sick so I couldn't go. So I only went once last week, and I know that the gym keeps me feeling fighting off things as well, because it keeps me feeling fit and healthy. So, yeah, make sure you stay on top of your A game. Was that all I think? That was all I had to say. Anyway, I'm really excited because I saw a post this week and the guy was talking about just posting, posting your stuff, posting your content.
Speaker 1:How people are supposed to know what you're doing, what it is that you do, if you're not posting? We all know this. So this is my challenge to anyone who is on social media and you're posting it's about posting with purpose and finding that purpose. So what he was saying was that basically, post every day and post three times a day, and I do think it's excessive. But you know what I'm throwing myself in to do it. I'm doing it for the consistency, and then it gives me a chance to really just give my platform a hike, like do something crazy to it. So it's like what the hell is going on. So this is what I had to tell myself posting my purpose.
Speaker 1:What is it that I want to achieve. What is it that? No, firstly, what is it that I want to share? What do I want people to to know about me? So, for me, it's I do workshops, I do speaking, I do um, hosting, presenting. That's the main things that I want to push on that page. So you know, my upcycling, workshops, presenting, hosting workshops, just like giving tips and tricks on how to repair your clothes and all of that stuff. Also, what do I want to gain from it? I want to gain new followers. I want to gain engagement. It I want to gain new followers. I want to gain engagement, engaging followers and supporters. I want to gain revenue. I want to yes, I want to drive. I want to gain brand band deals and stuff like that. So, brand collaborations.
Speaker 1:So now, what that allows me to do is figure out, obviously, my times of day morning, afternoon, evening and yeah, just really having a purpose, because now the posts that I'm gonna post are actually gonna be geared towards what it is that I want to achieve and what it is that I want you guys to get out of my page. So if you don't want to jump on this bandwagon with me, let me know. And yeah, like, just just do it. Basically I'm gonna be starting fully on Monday morning and just do it.
Speaker 1:And sometimes, if you don't know what to post, post a quote. If you don't have anything to post, if you have a podcast, post a snippet from your podcast. If you don do quotes but you have a friend that has a quote, post them. But yeah, like, if you have a business, just share. Share part of your business, what it is that you do. Share a funny story that happened, share you know. Again, if you're on a day and you're like oh, I don't know what to post today, post a story about you and your, you and your children or whatever it is. But just find something to post.
Speaker 1:For me it's less about overthinking it and it's more about the consistency and sticking to something, saying I'm going to do this for 20 days, I want to see the result that I have and I'm going to stick to doing it for those 20 days, three times a day. So if I have those moments where I just don't know what to post, I have to post something, because it is about the consistency and saying I did it, I actually just did it and crossing that off. So I'm doing it with my friend, princess Naya. So we are going to hold each other accountable. But, like I said, if you guys want to jump in, jump in, be part of the accountability team. I've finally been able to set up the chat on my Instagram, so I'll probably be talking about it on there and reposting on there that I've done the post and I've made my post, and checking in at the end of the day to say that I've done it. So be like. Is it subscribe? I think it's subscribe to my chat, my group chat on Instagram, and yeah, we can hold each other accountable in there and I can do polls and stuff.
Speaker 1:Have you posted your post today? Boom. Have you posted about your brand today? Boom, and you lot can like, click the post. Anyway, that's all.
Speaker 1:Honestly, like I said, I'm not. I think I'm actually because I'm not feeling well. Even doing this podcast today, like just talking, is making me feel sick. Am I sick of the sound of my voice? That's what it's giving, even laughing. I feel like I just need to let out a massive belch, like there's something still stuck down there. So, yeah, maybe I need to have some of that oliver. So I feel like I need a drink. I feel like I need some coconut water. I think I'm gonna have to go shop and get some stuff.
Speaker 1:Anyway, guys, that is all. Like. That is all I can manage today. I actually can't manage anymore. Peace out, a-town down West side is the best side. Do I believe that? Not really, but do you know? What I do believe Is that wherever I'm at the vibe's out and I know my vibe is always vibing I know I'm not feeling great today, but hopefully you still felt the vibe here. The vibe is always here every week, all day, or they may be. Tell a friend to tell a friend, because we're not going nowhere. And yeah, go where you're celebrated, not tolerated. I love you guys. Bye.
