Send me a Message

It’s 2025, and the theme is clear: show off, show out, and do it unapologetically! In this episode of The Sew Flipping Extra podcast, I’m diving into what it truly means to embrace your extra. Whether you’re rocking your creativity, your confidence, or your craft, showing off is the ultimate form of self-love.

We’re unpacking why “show off” has been seen as a negative term for too long and flipping the narrative—because why wouldn’t you want to celebrate yourself? I’m sharing how every little thing you do that goes beyond the ordinary is extra and why your version of showing off is just as valid as anyone else’s.

Plus, I’m introducing a brand-new segment: Show Off Spotlight! Get ready to celebrate those who inspire us to be bigger, better, and bolder. So, hit play, join the movement, and let’s make this the year we stop shrinking ourselves to fit and start showing up and showing off.

Tune in, tell a friend, and let’s do the most—together! 💃✨

Speaker 1:

So the theme for 2025 is show off, show off. Do all the things, do it to the best of your ability, have fun and show off, show off, show out and just be the best. Be bigger, be extra. I was on a live this week and one of the questions that I was asked was if people want to be more and they want to do more, you know they want to be extra. How do they do that? They might not be like the loudest person in the room, but they just want to be a bit more. I said every little thing is extra. Every little thing that you do that is an add-on to what you're already doing is extra. If you do that little bit extra, you're extra. Your extra doesn't have to look like someone else's extra, but to some people, your extra will look like you're showing off.

Speaker 1:

And the reason why some people don't do extra and don't go extra and don't be extra is because they're concerned. They're too concerned with what people are going to say that people are going to call them a show off and people are going to say that they're doing too much. Oh, you're so extra, you're such a show off. Oh, look at you showing off. But why wouldn't I show off If I'm feeling myself, why wouldn't I show off? We need to stop calling people extra and calling them a show off as if it's a negative thing, because to me, I'm going to keep it 100. I feel like if someone calls you a show off, there's a bit of jealousy in there. I'm not going to lie, there's a bit of jealousy in there. Do you know what? Let me do my intro and let's get a little bit deeper into this. Hi guys, welcome to another episode of the so Flippin' Extra podcast, a platform for me to express, explore and connect and be so flippin' extra why, I hear you ask. Well, babes, that's what brings me joy. So, without further ado, let's get into the rest of this episode and, yeah, let's just discuss the show-off-ness of being extra. I mean, I think we've all done it before. We've all been there where we've been like, oh, this is such a show off. And I feel like now I've done it back in the day when I was younger. Like, definitely, like there might be two girls in the club dancing. You're only a show off if you look good. If you're dancing and you look like a crazy person or you're not doing well, they're not going to be like she's such a show-off. They'll be like what the hell is she doing? However, if you look good while you're doing it, you'll you'll look like a show-off. Oh, she's such a show-off. Like who does she think she is the person you think I am? That's that's exactly who I am. Like I I'm. I'm prepared to be the show-off. I'm prepared.

Speaker 1:

It brings me joy. Like doing the most brings me joy. All these words that were like negative words that we used to say to people just to kind of bring them back down, make them be humble, like dim their lights and stuff. That's what brings me joy. Doing a little twerk that's what brings me joy. It makes me feel good. It makes me feel sexy. Why the hell wouldn't? I want to do that when I'm wearing one of my outfits this extra, and looks banging, and my friend's video recording me, or I know that there's a camera on me I'm gonna do the most.

Speaker 1:

Not everyone's like that, though not everyone's like me. So just because my word of the day or my word of the year is is show off. Yours might not be, but also your show off might be different. Like everyone shows off in different areas, some people will show off with their art and their skills and what it is that they do. I think I'm a little bit of an all-rounder because I love to show off with my skills. I love to show off with what I can do.

Speaker 1:

Why are we doing stuff and and I'm working on our craft and you know happy with what we do to to hide it? Because we don't want to be considered a show-off. I had a lovely conversation this weekend with one of my friends and we really was. We was flabbergasted about what's so wrong about being a show-off, what's so bad about it. There's nothing wrong with being a show-off and, to be honest, if you don't want to, if you don't like the way someone shows off, we're free to just keep it moving. If it's online, we're free to keep scrolling. If we don't like the way someone shows off or the way someone shows out with their craft and with what it is that they're doing or they're you know they're just doing too much we are free to keep it moving. We are free to keep scrolling. We are free to turn away and look somewhere else.

Speaker 1:

You don't have to sit there and watch if it doesn't make you feel good A lot of the time. If it doesn't make us feel good sometimes it's because we think to ourselves, well, I could do that, I can do that. Why they should? Who they think they are, show off, I can do that, anyone can do that. Do it, then Do it. If that's what brings you joy and will make you feel good, do it. But yeah, it's um, it was a very, very, very interesting conversation and I just want I just want for people to fill their fill, their cup, fill themselves up with with the things that they love to do and, however, however, that is for them, like in whatever areas, that is. That's. That's exactly what I want people to do.

Speaker 1:

I also really believe that showing off will just boost your confidence. It's such a confidence booster to show off and put yourself out there and put your work out there or put something that you're good at, like, maybe you're a skater and you show off with your skating. Like, maybe you're a skater and you show off with your skating. How are people going to find you if you are too scared to show off with it, with the things that you do and the things that you do well and the the way you show off? But do you even realise how inspiring you are, and that's one thing I learned and this is why so Flippin' Extra and the extra movement has been so important for me, because when I started this what was it Lockdown four or five years ago?

Speaker 1:

It was the feedback I got from people. Like you know, they always say that you're not really. You're not really. You know big unless you get negative negativity online. I don't get negativity online, not not blatant negativity. People say stuff or you know they might show their friends oh, this is that girl. I don't know anything about all of that. I don't know anything about all of that because I don't see it, but I got so much positivity about what I was doing which, like I said to some people might look like I'm showing off and it inspires people. People love to come back and watch my videos because it inspires them and it makes them feel good and it's all bubbly and light and fun.

Speaker 1:

So if I know that I'm having such a positive impact on people, why wouldn't I want to do that more? Like? Of course? I want to do that. I want to make people feel good and, to be honest, the most important common denominator is that the right word, the most important denominator, nominator in the whole, in the whole process, is me, is how it makes me feel. But if I can double up and actually make other people feel good by just doing something that is just so natural to me and just just flows, why wouldn't I want to do that? Like I love it. I love that me showing off makes other people feel good and so I get to show off and feel good about it. I get to show off in peace. Like I said, whoever doesn't like it is free to scroll Like. I really want to urge more people just to do that. Just show off and just do what you want to do, because it's never showing off in a bad way. And I'm literally the same way.

Speaker 1:

I took the word extra and I put the positive spin on it and made it like a movement within my brand. It's the same way we're going to take the word show off and we're putting a positive spin on it. Yeah, I'm a show off. I feel like. I feel like featuring the show offs of the week on my, on my page on like, maybe a Sunday, sunday show-off, like, and just feature people that are just doing things, they're doing bits and they're inspiring me because, like I said, if I think that person's a show-off, they're doing something that I'm like, hmm, they're doing something big. That's not all I think. I think, if I look at someone and think they're a show-off, they're doing something big and I want to and I'm intrigued so be a show off.

Speaker 1:

This is the word of the year and you know what? I want to encourage you lot to share your show off moments, share those moments where you showed off and maybe something good came about. It maybe you showed off and you got a deal, or you got a modeling contract, or you got booked to do something through you showing off, you got something out of it and it made a positive impact. Like I would love for you lot to share that with me and then I can share them on next week's episode. Oh my god, guys, I just had another amazing brainwave. It's going to be called Show Off Spotlight. We're going to have the Show Off Spotlight segment. I don't know where we're going to have this, but basically we're just going to have the Show Off Spotlight segment where I get to share the show-offs and share them, share their moments or share their stories so that other people can find the show-offs. We're gonna look, we're gonna find the best show-offs online.

Speaker 1:

I'm obviously I've got to feature myself. Can I feature myself, if it's my thing? That's a bit big-headed, isn't it? We're gonna do it. We're gonna do it, but yeah, so, yeah, this, this whole episode today, I really just wanted to embrace the art of showing off and just, not even in an arrogant way, but in a bold and confident way and just unapologetically being extra all the way. So, yeah, for me it's from rocking my upcycle creations, sharing personal wins and just, yeah, celebrating yourself. And that's what I want to encourage everyone else to do.

Speaker 1:

We are no longer shrinking ourselves. It's not about that 2025. We're not shrinking ourselves to make sure we fit into everyone's boxes and fit into here. We're making ourselves even bigger. And if you don't fit in the box, you get, you get the hell out of it and you find a bigger box. I mean, you don't need to be in the box. No one puts baby in the box. That's not how it goes, but whatever. So, yeah, own your uniquenesses and make a statement, because when you're making a statement and you're owning your uniqueness, you have no idea how many people you are inspiring to do exactly the same.

Speaker 1:

And with that said, I'm going to close this episode and, yeah, I hope you enjoyed listening. Definitely hit me up, let me know your show-off moments, let me know any show-offs that you follow that you love and you love the way they show off, because I would love to feature them. And yeah, peace out, a-town down. Westside's the best side. Do I believe it? I'm not sure, but Westside had a party last night. He was out last night and it was a party. So Westside was the best side if he was out last night. But what I do know is, wherever I'm at the vibe's out Because I'm a show-off and I'm going to continue being a show-off. So if you want to be around the show offs and you want to have an amazing vibe, make sure you stick around, make sure you come back, make sure you tell a friend to tell a friend it's 2025, we're showing off and we back because we never left. Baby, I love you guys. Bye.
