listen. I am so grateful that my kids are too old for this whole elf on the shelf thing, because the creativity that you lot be coming with with these elf on the shelf things, I just ain't got the energy for that. I don't know if it's because, do I not have the energy, because I don't have to have the energy, or am I just don't have the energy because I do have the time. If I really wanted to to do all of all of that, I could. But, um, yeah, callie's old enough now that I don't have to. But I did say this year that, obviously, because she is older, santa Claus, he ain't the man in it, I'm the man now. Well, okay, sorry, hang on the woman and I don't have to do all that. Let's leave the cookies and and you know, bailey's out for Santa, which I just go and swig once she's gone to sleep.
Speaker 1:But, um, I said this year I think I'm gonna do it like I just might make it all magical just for one time, one more time, because I know the look on her face. Although she doesn't believe in Santa anymore, it would be nice just to see her be like oh, wow, so I just might do it this year, um one. There was one thing I done a couple years ago, and that was that I put flour on the floor and then I put footprints their dad's shoe in the footprint I guess Kay's feet are big enough now so we can use his and, um, yeah, made it look like footsteps coming from the kitchen. I even have a chimney, so where Santa came from I don't even know, but yeah, from the kitchen into the sitting room and she woke up, and she woke me up in the morning.
Speaker 1:Oh, my god, mum, there's footprints, there's snow on the floor and I was like there's no way this girl believes this is this is snow, but I don't know. I thought that I was like there's no way this girl believes this is snow, but I don't know. I feel like she was like five or six, and there was a couple times I was like does she, is she fooling me, am I fooling her, or is she fooling me? Like I really don't know what's happening, because does she 100% believe what's real? Oh my god. That actually reminds me of a post that I saw this week that, oh my god, it touched my soul and it said it was a guy and he was talking about if you tell your kids about san ar, they believe it. If you tell them about the two fairy, they believe it. If you tell them about all of this, all of these things, these things that we make up and, you know, make believe for our kids and create these magical moments for them, they believe it. And then he said if you tell your kids that they're stupid, if they're silly, they're not smart, they're slow, they believe it. They believe everything you say. So just make sure you're feeding the right information into your kids, because they believe everything you say. And with that said, let me do the intro. Let's get into this combo.
Speaker 1:Hi guys, welcome to another episode of the so Flippin' Extra podcast, a platform for me to express, explore and connect and be so flipping extra. Why, I hear you ask. Well, darlings, that's what brings me joy and I'm always going to do what brings me joy. So, without further ado, let's get into the rest of the podcast because, um, I forgot what I was saying. Let's get into it, okay. Yeah, let it. Let us pump all this positivity and affirmations into our children, because they believe what we tell them, even if it doesn't make sense.
Speaker 1:Why is there flour on the floor, mum, what, what? Because I make believing to be to be snow. My child believed that Santa came in and that was his footprints in the snow. In the house there was really flour. Maybe I don't do enough baking, so it was easy for her to believe it.
Speaker 1:But, um, yeah, so that post I did see about your kids believe everything that you say to them. So what are you telling them? What are you telling them and what are they believing, and is it all positive? So, so, so interesting. Um, and what age should they stop believing? Callie was quite old, actually, when she stopped believing in Santa, oh god, the day that she found out wasn't true. Um, it was okay. I was ready for her to find out and I she had asked me before like maybe, um, the year before was Santa real? Could have even been two years before.
Speaker 1:Was Santa real? And I said baby, he's, he's as real as you believe him to be. Was I lying? That wasn't a lie. So I thought you believe and I said this if you believe in him, whatever you believe in is real. And the reason why I was, I said that and I said that and I meant it, because I believe in the law of attraction. Not everyone believes in the law of attraction.
Speaker 1:Arcs, believe and receive. I believe if you arcs and you believe, you will receive it. If you believe in Santa, then Santa's real. If you believe in the tooth fairy, it's real. Why is it real? Because if you believe that Santa gives you a present, santa gives you a present. However that present gets you, you get that present. Yeah, if you believe in the tooth fairy and your tooth's going to drop out and the tooth fairy's going to give you a pound, you wake up in the morning and that pound is there. So he's as real as you believe it. When you stop believing, you stop getting the present from Santa. You still get presents, you just stop getting it from Santa. And so that's what I told her.
Speaker 1:And then, so two years later, and she was still believing, I thought I don't think she believes. She was, like now, 10. This was last year. She was 10. I thought there's no way she believes. But I'm ready for her not to believe because, yeah, but I don't, I don't know how to tell her, I can't tell her. So it wasn't me, because I was too pussy to do it myself. Um, one of my friends did it, but we hadn't planned this. I was like like, oh man, do you know what this should have been? This should have been a video so that you lot could see the look on my face when Callie found out that Santa wasn't real. But basically, she must have said something about Santa. Oh god, is that my phone? Hang on. Oh, hang on, I'll be back. My phone's ringing, okay. So she mentioned something about Santa or what Santa was gonna get her. And so my friend was like Callie you know, Santa's not real.
Speaker 1:I swear to you, man. I stood there with my mouth gasped open like we, we didn't, we didn't discuss this, we didn't discuss this. You've gone rogue on me and she's like what he said Santa's not real, know. And she looked at me and I think I played stupid like I didn't hear, and I was like la, la, la. And she said mum. And I said yeah. She said can I talk to you outside please? I was shitting myself, I swear to you, I was shitting myself.
Speaker 1:So he went outside now and she said did you hear what Johnny just said? And I said what she said. He said something that's not real. And I was like okay. She said well, is it true, why is my kid having me up? Yeah, oh god, my heart was beating so fast. My palms were sweating like. I'm feeling the emotions now, like my palms are sweating again now. They're not really, but I feel like they are. My head's hurting, though, but that could be the rum that I was drinking last night.
Speaker 1:But she was like so what was the coup? And I was like babes, listen, yeah, he's not real. And she was like, and I could see her eyes watering. I was like but listen, listen, listen, listen. What did I? What did I do for you? I created magical moments. Did you not have some of the best memories of Santa visiting and stuff? And she's like, yeah, but and I was like, what was your favourite? So I turned it. Am it? Am I a narcissist? Oh my god, I don't know. I don't know, I wonder if I'm a narcissist.
Speaker 1:Anyway, she and then she started reading off some of her favorite moments, and the snow was one of them, and I was like baby, I created memories for you. I created memories that you now get to share with other people, like I remember when my mum made me believe Santa was real, but it was so magical, I said if you never believed in Santa, those magical memories would never have happened. I would not have wrapped Santa's present because I gave her one present let's not get us twisted this matter not by all the presents, but I would not have, you wouldn't have, I wouldn't have had special wrapping paper. The only santa's present was wrapped in that that you knew as soon as you looked under the tree you knew which one was from santa because of the way it was wrapped. That would never have happened. It just would have been like, oh yeah, this is from mom, this is from dad, this is like, do you know what I'm saying? Created all of these memories.
Speaker 1:And I gave her a big hug and I said but I said, baby, I think you kind of knew though, didn't you? She said a little bit, and I was like this kid's playing me. She's been playing me because she knew if I believe, I get anyways. So then that's that she wasn't talking to Johnny anymore because she didn't appreciate the way he he dropped it. Anyways, we get home now, right, and I'm there tottering around doing evening stuff, probably preparing dinner. This girl comes up to me and she said does that mean, does that mean that the tooth fairy is not real either? I was like, oh my god. And then she's staring at me, her eyes are just piercing through me, like tell me the truth.
Speaker 1:And I was like babes again. Memories, baby Created memories for you and you loved it. And she said I can't believe. You lied to me all this time and she's not lying. I did, I lied, but I didn't lie Because you wanted to believe in it, baby. You wanted to believe that I allowed you to believe whoo. So I'm not even gonna lie. From when she stopped believing, I just felt like a whole weight was lifted off my shoulder.
Speaker 1:You mums who have their little kids that you're doing this whole Santa thing for I do not envy you because that shit's long man, that's just long. The secretive, the secretive stuff that you do just to, just to create these memories. Do you know how many times this kid woke up and and the tooth fairy forgot to put a pound under a pillow because she fell asleep and forgot? She just forgot listen. When I remembered, though, them them mornings, she'd wake up with glitter all over her face because the um, the tooth fairy was so clumsy so she would just spill glitter all over her face. Because the tooth fairy was so clumsy so she would just spill glitter all over Callie's head when she was leaving the tooth. So Callie would wake up and be like oh, mummy, there's glitter everywhere, sequins and stuff, and I'd be like that bloody tooth fairy such a mess. But then she'd wake up some morning and be like mum, the tooth fairy forgot to leave me money. And I'd be like, oh, do you know what? I'm going to write them a letter because this is out of order. This is the second day. No, I'm not going to lie.
Speaker 1:There was one morning I woke up and I was like shit, it must be about five o'clock in the morning. I was like shit, I forgot to leave her a pound, the sneaker one. I had to go find a pound first. Then I'm sneaking around and I'm in, you know, and I'm like trying to put the money under the pillow. But then I'm ducking because I'm like she's going to catch me. And then and then I couldn't find the flipping tooth. Where's the tooth? She must have put it so far under her pillow that I just could not find it. So I had to leave the pound under the pillow. Then I had to leave a note that said I left you a pound but I couldn't find your tooth. Can you leave it for me tomorrow? Lots of love the tooth fairy.
Speaker 1:Oh, my head hurts just thinking about all the sneaky shit that I did for this kid. Um, I don't remember. I think Kay found out at school that to that, the son, I, a or some kid at school, told him you know, something's not real, isn't it? And I was like, and he, he handled it so well. But this one, jeez, she, she, she, wow, she made it hard for me, damn, but yeah, but anyways, like I said, all the Elf on the Shelf stuff, santa, stuff, I don't envy you like at all. I'm so glad I ain't gotta do that shit. No more cheese anyway. What else are we talking about this week? What happened this week?
Speaker 1:Yesterday I went mums that rave. It was good, we had a good time. Um, yeah, do you know what? Okay, so I've realized this is about mums that rave.
Speaker 1:There is mums that go mums that rave for so many different reasons. So some women go that it's a daytime rave and they love the fact that they don't have to. Um, they can get home and I don't know still cook dinner for their kids a saturday afternoon. Obviously that's not the same reason that I go mums to rave. And I realized that I've made some great friends at mums that rave. I met some women there, um, that I just adore and love and love to have a vibe with and love to create a vibe and love to be the vibe. And you know, the vibe is where Danny Dawks is at ha ha to to. Is that my phone again? Oh, monzo, is someone leaving me money? No, it's not. And yeah, that's why I really love going to mums at rave and that's what I love about it. It's just bucking up with my people stem. Do you understand what I'm saying? So, but for those that do go for the, for the vibe that it's just, um, or for the reason that it finishes early, it's so great for that as well.
Speaker 1:Yesterday obviously yesterday was like the christmas party, because it was the christmas party, so it was jam-packed. It was a vibe. Everyone was doing their little two-step ting and then and then I grabbed the mic and I was like listen, I want everyone to get on the dance floor. We're gonna have a twerking competition, the hell. So yeah, bashment was on twerking competition. Shake your ass, it was so good, such a flippin vibe. Like them, women can dance their asses off. That's all I know. I don't know who's got the footage of that, but I want to see it, um. So yeah, send it to me if anyone's got it.
Speaker 1:If you even listen to my podcast, oh my god, okay, cool. There's another thing I want to discuss, so Spotify. My podcast is obviously on Spotify and so some of you lot that listen to my podcast via Spotify are obviously getting your. You know your podcast list, like your top five. Why am I on people's top fives? Like, do you know what? I got one earlier this week, narinda sent me hers and I was number three and that's the like. Number three is great, especially when you're on the same lineage or line what's it called Line up of Stephen Bartlett, like you know, obviously it's my, my friend. She listens to my podcast and she supported me, but she genuinely, she genuinely loves my podcast and she genuinely gets things from my podcast and she'll message me and she'll be like, oh my god, I just listened to your podcast.
Speaker 1:It resonated with me so much. I absolutely love that like just getting feedback from someone who listens to the shit that I be saying on a weekly basis and it's that they're just giving me their positive spin on what I'm saying or their recollection of what I'm saying, or whatever. I love it, I absolutely love it, and especially for someone like me, that when I started this podcast I didn't think that I could hold up a solo podcast on my own, that people would really want to come back every week and listen to it and they absolutely do and they're enjoying it. And I just thought I'm not articulate, I'm. I'm not a wordy person, I'm not the smartest. You know. Cracker in the in the cracker pack. Crackers are so shit these days, by the way, way, but that's another story. Do you know what I'm saying? So how am I going to come across? But do you know how I come across as authentic? I come across across. I come across as authentic. I say what I say and and I don't try and be something I'm not I don't try and be super smart and spokey and speaky Like I say words. I don't even know if I've got the right meaning, but I'm a say it with chest and you don't know what I mean. Like you understand what I'm talking about and I love that.
Speaker 1:And also Tasha from Running Club. She also sent me her ones as I came up on her podcast, on her podcast Spotify list number one, number one. Mel robinson was number two. Do you know what I'm saying, like I love mel robinson, like, oh my god, like these are people, these are people's podcasts that I listen to and I look up to and I'm on people's playlists of people podcasts that they listen to that are just amazing, like the closet confessions I don't need a closet confession still going. I'm not sure if they are with um, candice and Sorrel, like I love their podcast and so, yeah, it's just, it's really amazing. And she, oh my god, she actually left me a voice note that I wanted to play. I'm actually gonna play it actually, wherewith hang on, because it's touched my soul. And I didn't even know tasha listened to my actual podcast. So when she said that to me I was like what? Like?
Speaker 2:stop it. I listen to you every monday morning on my way to work. I love your podcast. It's just the right length for me. Some of these podcasts go on for too long and I um don't get to listen. You know, something happens. Or I arrive at my destination and I don't get to finish listening to it and I don't get back to it. But yours is just a perfect length and there's always so many gems, so many takeaways from it. I just love it. So I know it must be tough sometimes. Probably don't know how many listeners you got, but people that do listen um, gain so much from your wisdom and your knowledge and I love it. I just want to see your podcast grow, grow, grow, grow, grow. I need to get in contact because I need a raw Oscar.
Speaker 1:Have a lovely day, daddy bye like, honestly, it gives me tears, like to think that, yeah, that people are getting gems from it and I know that like they'll message me and they'll let me know what they got from it. And even, like, some times I know people can't be bothered to listen to podcasts and so I do the little snippets and I get such great feedback back from them as well. And I also have to remember, like when I first started this podcast over a year ago, I really wanted it to grow and I wanted it to be something that I could monetize from and that could help pay me. And you know, I was really inspired by the shits and gigs podcast, that their level and their patreon and they're just their fans that they had. And I was like I want to be that, I want to have that level of fans and I don't and I don't know if I'm going to get there. But I also, like I said, I have to remember why I started this podcast and my passion and my goal is to be a speaker and be a presenter and, you know, host shows and host everything and just have a microphone and be able to talk to people and be a personality. And I get to practice that through my podcast. It is a, it is a tool for me to one get things off my chest and just speak about things. It's like a diary, it's like a journal that I just get to to say stuff and and then I get to share things because we're all going through something can we think we're going through it on our own? And then I get to speak on my platform and tell people what I'm going through and actually realize that I'm not alone, because there are people that are now responding to what I'm saying and saying, oh my god, I feel the same way. So it's like my journal, but it's just also just my practice run. It's my practice run for what's to come.
Speaker 1:And I remember hearing a story and it was about this guy talking about how he used to have his YouTube channel and he would only have like six listeners or six watchers every time six, seven, eight, six, seven, eight and he kept going. He showed up every week and he'd done his show. Whatever it was that he was doing, he'd done his videos and he kept showing up and he would have the same small numbers. It was growing really small, but he would have the same numbers showing up every week. And then one day Oprah reached out to him and was like I love your show, I watch it every week. Out of them six why am I getting emotional? Out of them six people, oprah was one emotional. Out of them six people, oprah was one of these people watching this man's show.
Speaker 1:You don't know who's listening, you don't know who's watching, you don't know who is just admiring you. But that person who is admiring you might have the tools and might have the, the things that they can help push you and they're just waiting for you just to. They're waiting to see are you consistent? They're waiting to see. Are you consistent? Are you showing up every week? What are you saying every week? Are you speaking it as you believe it? Do you know what I'm saying? And then one day they're just going to speak to the right person and say I've got the right person, here's the opportunity. And then they're going to reach out to you and be like I've been listening to you for over a year. And you're like what? Over a year? And then you start thinking like what have I said? Oh, my god. Like have I represented myself? Well, but for me it's the consistency.
Speaker 1:I didn't get to do another video this week, but I'm still showing up and the podcast is still gonna go out and it's gonna go out every week. And if I miss a week, don't shoot me, bruv, like I've been showing up every week for over a year, but I, that's the reason I do it. I do it because one day it's gonna, the thing that needs to happen is gonna happen, and I don't know what that is. I don't know what it's gonna be and if it's not, in my podcast might do the numbers and it might get me monetized and I might start making money off it. At the moment, it is just a passion project, but it's a passion project that I love and it's the one thing that I probably really am really consistent with. So getting the feedback from you lot about it is absolutely fucking amazing.
Speaker 1:I would love if you not just let me do rogue, like I'm just saying whatever comes to my mind every week, but if there's anything that you don't want me to talk about, um, because yeah, you're not the ones that are coming up every week and listening. So, yeah, interact with me, tell me what you want to hear. If you've got a discussion, be like damn, what do you think of this, discuss this on the podcast? I absolutely would, because there are some days that I literally I'm like I don't even know what I'm going to talk about today and I just start talking. So that's why sometimes I say it's like a diary what did I do this week, what I get up to? Oh, yeah, I've done this, I've done this, I've done this. So yeah, um, yeah, this is a massive thank you. Every week is a freaking thank you every week, like if you're here again this week. I'm so grateful for you. Thank you so much, um, but yeah, let me see what's happening. Oh my god, guys, I've totally forgot to tell you.
Speaker 1:I've got a massive event coming up. I've been invited to. It is a plus one, so it's not personal invitation, but I've been invited to gigsmas. Do you even know what gigsmas is is? Basically, it's Gigs' Christmas party and the theme is Beauty and the Beast. I don't know what I'm doing, but I kind of do know, but I don't know what I'm doing. Oh my God. Basically, I need to do an outfit and I have a week. I have a week to have an outfit for Gigsmith, oh my God. So, yeah, I'm really excited about that. Yeah, got a few events coming up, got a couple of kids' workshops coming up and I really next year I'm literally gonna be workshopped out.
Speaker 1:So if you know someone who either is a hen party or a girls' night in or a kiddies party and you want to do something different, think about doing an upcycle party. Let's discuss how we're going to do it. It could be t-shirt upcycling, it could be letter patch making. It could be a denim upcycle party where you not bring a piece of your denim outfit and we do stuff to it. I bring all the stuff and you lot just have a good time. If it's an adult party, obviously we'll have the Prosecco flowing. They're great for hen parties, like you could with the hen party. Sometimes you can upcycle a pair of knickers and just have fun. If you want, we bring the red carpet and we have a little fashion show after. But I think it's. It's a great thing and I think for kids it's amazing.
Speaker 1:So, like I said, if you have any kids and you want to do something different for a kid's party or you just want to get a bunch of kids together and do like a little upcycle party for them, let me know, let's discuss it and let's get these workshops cracking, because kids are the future and we need to teach them well and let them lead the way. Peace out a town down west side is the best side. Do I believe that? Not really, but what I do know is that wherever I'm at the vibes, that and the vibes always. I don't know where danny dorks is at, so I need you guys on this vibe with me. Let's go bye.
